BELLA DEER writes songs that feel like worlds of their own. Expansive, intimate, and slightly unguarded.A pianist, singer-songwriter and storyteller from Geelong, Victoria, creating on Wadawurrung Country, her music lives in the space where vulnerability meets scale.Known for disarmingly honest stage banter, powerful vocals and lush sonic landscapes, Bella moves easily between fragility and force. Her songs unfold slowly and deliberately, carried by raw lyricism, cinematic arrangements and a voice that invites comparison while remaining unmistakably her own.
In 2023, her single Care Too Much earned finalist recognition in the APRA AMCOS Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition and the International Songwriting Competition, signalling an artist whose emotional clarity resonates well beyond the room she’s playing in. Bella’s work has travelled widely. From her formative years spent on festival stages such as the Aireys Open Mic Festival and Pako Festa, to intimate Australian stages at Ragtime Tavern, Preston, she has trail blazed her own path to performing overseas; in 2023 she performed in the well known Gangnam district in Seoul, South Korea. Bella also represented Australia at the 2024 Ferrara International Buskers Festival in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Bella is in her true element when connecting with her audiences through moments of reflection, honesty, humour and intensity.
Her debut EP 'Age of Alchemy' (November 2024) which was supported by a City of Greater Geelong Arts Project Grant marked a defining chapter. Described by The AU Review as “a beautiful record, showcasing an artist with talent that belies her years,” the EP captures transformation in motion. Its single Shipwreck Coast went on to become a semi-finalist in the 2024 International Songwriting Competition (USA), further cementing Bella’s strength as a songwriter who is unafraid to allow songs to breathe in raw, unresolved spaces.
2026 has seen already seen Bella and her band perform live to festival audiences in South Australia, supporting the iconic Australian band The Whitlams of iconic anthems 'No Aphrodisiac' and 'Blow Up the Pokies'. Bella also recently opened for Eskimo Joe on their 20th Anniversary Tour show at Barwon Heads Hotel in September.
Bella is proudly a regional based, independent artist. She is currently collaborating on a brand-new show with Adelaide based singer/songwriter Josh Forner for Adelaide Fringe.
She has been in the studio for new works with her 4-piece band for new single Black Dots which is available on 02.10.2026 and has announced a regional tour this October.
